An underground dance party is coming to the RMIT Alumni Courtyard in April

Words by Staff Writer

Melbourne's beloved party series Spasta is making a triumphant return this autumn with its most ambitious lineup to date, taking over a stunning new venue in the CBD.

The event will christen the grandiose RMIT Alumni Courtyard with an eight-hour session of house and disco featuring international heavyweights alongside local favourites.

Topping the bill is Detroit pioneer Marcellus Pittman, whose raw and soulful productions have cemented his place as royalty in the underground dance music scene. He’ll be joined by Singaporean selector Dean Chew, known for his wizardry behind the decks and eclectic taste spanning jazz, soul, disco and beyond.

Event organisers Finding Figaro haven’t skimped on local talent either, enlisting O’Honey, who stole the show at last year’s Meredith Music Festival with her interstitial sets, as well as Spasta founder Adriana, one of Naarm’s most beloved selectors. The Alumni Courtyard provides a unique backdrop for the day-long dance affair.

Tickets for the event will be priced between $40-75 and go on sale at 10am Tuesday 11 February, with eager punters able to access pre-sale tickets 15 minutes earlier if they sign up through the promoter’s link.

The 18+ event runs from 2pm until 10:30pm, providing the perfect opportunity for daylight disco before moving into nighttime grooves under the stars.
