Gertrude Street's beloved Poodle Bar and Bistro is celebrating five years of cocktails, cuisine and community with a free party.
The Fitzroy venue is rolling out the red carpet for punters on Sunday, March 9, with a stacked lineup of DJs including Pjenné, Myles Mac, DJ Possum, Turbo Thot and DJ Sarah Mikhail. The seven-hour shindig will kick off at 2pm and run until 9:30pm, bringing house and pop tunes to the iconic space.
Partygoers can expect fresh Italian sandwiches from newcomer Carlitos, alongside Poodle’s signature party cocktails and wine selection. In an exciting twist, the venue will debut its first-ever Poodle Private Dining Rave Room, hosted by local favourite Turbo Thot.

Event organiser Alex Pineo warns the free RSVP system works on a first-come, first-served basis, so keen punters should secure their spot early.
“Join us at the kennel on the 9th March from 2pm to celebrate our fifth Birthday! Best of all it’s FREE!” the announcement reads. “RSVP is first come first served so jump on the link to secure your spot. WOOF WOOF.”
Since opening in 2020, Poodle has established itself as one of Fitzroy’s most popular dining and drinking destinations, known for its sophisticated yet unpretentious approach to hospitality. The venue’s charming interior and courtyard have made it a favourite among locals and visitors alike.
The birthday celebration comes at a busy time for Melbourne’s hospitality scene, with the Labour Day long weekend offering multiple events across the city. While many Melburnians will be heading to Golden Plains festival at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, those staying in town have plenty to choose from, including Untitled Day Party at The Timber Yard and DJ Assault at New Guernica.
