Autumn sounds to fill the air at Abbotsford Convent's ambient mini-festival
Abbotsford Convent will transform into a dreamy soundscape this autumn for a special afternoon of ambient and electronic music.
Warm Mids Afternoon brings together five distinguished artists for a day of contemplative sounds set against the historic backdrop of one of Melbourne’s most beloved cultural spaces.
The event promises to showcase the talents of IKSRE, Clariloops, Zoltan Fecso, Willebrant, and Matt Wicking, each delivering solo performances before culminating in a collaborative improvised session as the sun begins to set.

Organisers describe the mini-festival as a celebration of “beautiful, dreaming music” perfectly timed to match the mellowing pace of autumn in Naarm, when the city is “bathed in golden light, as the heat of summer fades.”
The family-friendly gathering encourages attendees to create their own comfort zones, with limited traditional seating available alongside space for more relaxed arrangements. “We encourage you to bring anything you would like to make yourself as comfortable as possible so you can experience the music how you would like to – yoga mat, beanbag, cushions, etc. Be as creative as you like,” the event description suggests.
Set within the expansive grounds of Abbotsford Convent, just four kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, the venue provides a serene escape despite its proximity to the city centre. Spread across 16 acres with 11 historic buildings and gardens, Australia’s largest multi-arts precinct offers the perfect sanctuary for this immersive sonic experience.
The event also carries a charitable element, with organisers committing to donate 10% of net income to Pay the Rent, an initiative supporting First Nations communities.
Each artist brings their unique approach to ambient and electronica, promising a diverse yet cohesive afternoon of music. The format – individual performances capped by a collaborative jam – offers attendees the rare opportunity to experience both the distinct artistic voices and their spontaneous interplay.
With its focus on creating a space for reflection and connection through sound, Warm Mids Afternoon presents a thoughtful alternative to Melbourne’s typically high-energy weekend music offerings, inviting listeners to slow down and sink into the changing season.
