One night, three venues, a frankly ridiculous lineup...Fitzroy's about to lose its mind.
High Ground: In Motion will take over three of Fitzroy’s most iconic venues for one massive night of music.
The Night Cat, The Evelyn and Punters Club will all open their doors for High Ground: In Motion, letting punters wander between the three venues across the Fitzroy Triangle for one night of live music, DJs and late-night programming.
It’s the centrepiece of High Ground’s inaugural winter program, which is taking over Fitzroy’s live music venues from May through August.

With 13 acts spread across three rooms, High Ground: In Motion is shaping up as a proper choose-your-own-adventure night, with everything from local DJs to live bands on offer depending on which door you walk through.
The event is presented by CLBR, PBS 106.7FM and Leaps and Bounds Music Festival, and organisers have promised more acts, exhibitions and activations will be announced in the lead-up.
High Ground itself is billed as a love letter to Fitzroy, inspired by the suburb’s traditional name, Ngár-go, and its long history of creative independence and underground music culture.
CLBR co-founder and managing director Nate Farrell says the idea behind In Motion is to bottle the feeling of bouncing between venues in the Fitzroy Triangle, where different crowds and scenes collide against the backdrop of the neighbourhood itself.
The wider winter program hosts performances through to August from acts including, Mildlife, YHWH Nailgun, Moktar, Winston Surfshirt and DJ Assault.
Fitzroy’s venues have shaped Australian music for decades, with Punters Club helping launch acts like Powderfinger and You Am I throughout the 1990s, while The Evelyn and The Night Cat have hosted everyone from Hiatus Kaiyote to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard over the years.
For High Ground: In Motion specifically, it’s all about the one-night, three-venue format; a single ticket, a single date, and a whole lot of ground to cover.
