Nik Kastel headlines Stamina's second official Sandbox pre-party
Banana Alley Vaults is about to get a lot louder, and this time it’s got a proper homegrown headliner leading the charge at Stamina.
Stamina hosts the second official Sandbox pre-party this Saturday, with Melbourne techno mainstay Nik Kastel taking the headline slot.
Signed to Dangerous Goods and based right here in Melbourne, Nik Kastel has spent the past few years building one of the more internationally credible profiles to come out of Australian techno, with appearances at HÖR Berlin, Terminal V, Hive Festival and Ultra Australia already ticked off.

Releases through Exetra Records and DSR Digital have racked up millions of plays worldwide, and his sound leans into dark hard techno and psychedelic trance, all saturated kicks and acidic tension, earning him shared stages with Deborah De Luca, Klangkuenstler, Nico Moreno and AIROD along the way.
Support comes from North Barton, who’s clocked up back-to-back tours across Australia and Europe with credits including Let Them Eat Cake and Carl Cox’s Pure Festival. Rounding out the bill are RØSAH, PATTO, Stude and Sydney import Klein Rietje, giving the night a solid spread of local and interstate talent either side of Kastel’s headline set.
Stamina runs out of the historic Banana Alley Vaults, a stretch of century-old brick tunnels tucked beneath Flinders Street Station that’s been converted into one of Melbourne’s more distinctive club spaces.
Three separate rooms, festival-grade sound and a serious lighting rig give the venue an underground, industrial feel that suits harder techno and hard bounce programming particularly well, and with over a thousand capacity there’s plenty of room to move across the night.
With Sandbox on the horizon and a lineup this deep already locked in, Saturday’s edition looks set to be a big one.
