Paint will splatter the floor on Wednesday March 9 when the last semi-final of Melbourne’s Secret Wars hits town and you can be certain that whatever these street artists produce, it’ll be amazing.
If you’ve only just stumbled over the Secret Wars now we’ll quickly get you up to speed. Two street artists take to the stage and a blank canvas for 90 frenetic minutes of art. Armed only with black markers and black acrylic paint the two battling artistes are given the mammoth task to fill their allocated space in only an hour and a half. No pencils, no stencils and no sketches allowed.
Think that’s hard? These professionals of paint have to do it all in front of a live (and likely liquored up) audience, who even get to vote at the end. Taking to the stage for the sakes of their art are Ken Taylor and Drew Funk, both well respected and tremendously talented artists who will no doubt create something well worth seeing.
The battle commences Wednesday March 9 at 1000 £ Bend (361 Lt Lonsdale St). Doors open at 6pm and the battle itself starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are $12+bf through Moshtix and $15 at the door.
