The indie rockers are hitting the decks for two nights only to celebrate the release of their sixth studio album.

In celebration of their upcoming sixth studio album, Oh! The Ocean, set for release on February 21, 2025, British indie rock sensation The Wombats are set to light up the Australian summer with two exclusive parties.

The festivities will take place at Melbourne’s Riviera Beach Club on December 3, followed by a gathering at Sydney’s Glass Island on December 5.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

These special events promise an immersive experience, featuring a Wombats DJ set packed with carefully curated indie tracks. Fans will also enjoy a candid Q&A session with the band’s dynamic trio: frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis. The band has also teased surprise guests, adding to the excitement.

“Wombats DJ sets are rarer than the lesser spotted ‘Wobbly Nostrilled Pink Eared 1 Legged Wombat,’” joked Dan Haggis, inviting fans to join the celebration. “If you love indie bangers and haven’t caught a Wombats DJ set before, come along for a toe-tapping session as we celebrate Oh! The Ocean!”

Oh! The Ocean marks a pivotal new chapter for The Wombats, with themes of catharsis and introspection woven throughout the album. The band draws inspiration from personal experiences by the sea, crafting a sound that melds melodic energy with deeper lyrical reflections. This forthcoming album follows the band’s first UK #1 hit, Fix Yourself, Not the World.

Leading the album’s rollout is the recent single, Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come. This track showcases the band’s signature upbeat vibe while delving into themes of solitude and connection—resonating deeply with fans and reinforcing The Wombats’ two-decade legacy.

Tickets for the parties are expected to move quickly, so fans are encouraged to secure their spots for this unique opportunity to engage with one of indie music’s most beloved acts.
