The Wheeler Centre reveals first taste of Season Two programme

He’s a legendary food critic and now Jay Rayner has promised to lead us to the edible promise land with his new book The Ten (Food) Commandments. Rayner will explain why thou shalt eat with thy hands, why thou shalt worship leftovers, plus a load more in an exclusive in conversation session.

Armando Iannucci is the brilliant comedic brain behind Veep’s Selina Meyer and The Thick of It’s Malcolm Tucker. Face to face with Tony Martin, Iannucci will discuss the predicaments and possibilities of political satire.

Did you know Joan Lindsay’s Picnic at Hanging Rock turns 50 this year? The fainting spells, hysteria and mystery that occurred still resonate strongly and look to be examined in Wheeler Centre’s new commemorative feature.

Other highlights of the programme include Blinkered Vision: Race and Dating in Australia – an exploration into the role race plays in 21st-century dating and the next chapter of Question Time – involving two separate panel discussions into Drug Laws and Homelessness.

Tracey Spicer will discuss her new book The Good Girl Stripped Bare – delving into her sensational sacking from Channel Ten among other momentous career happenings while Not Seen, Not Heard: The Hidden Stolen Generation explores the attitudes and policies that lead to child removal practices in our most remote communities.

Closing out the announcement comes discussions on Australia’s changing relationship with alcohol in The Big Dry: Alcohol and Us as well as an exploration into ‘the butterfly effect’ with science educator George Aranda.
