The Rochester Announces Indefinite Closure

The news follows several weeks of uncertainty, with the venue telling patrons that they were only taking a short break and would be up and running in a matter of weeks.

However, this morning the official news of indefinite closure was revealed on their Facebook:

“Today, it comes with great sadness and a sense of reflection as we announce that The Rochester Castle Hotel, 202 Johnston Street, Fitzroy has had to cease business and close it’s doors indefinitely.

The Rochester Castle’s management would like to thank each and every patron, band, promoter, entertainer and staff member who over the years has supported what will be remembered as one of Johnston Street’s iconic pubs.”

The Rochester hosted a variety of live music, club nights, comedy, trivia and more. The news follows the closure of fellow Melbourne venues Bar 291 and The Palace.
