It is the first dramatic film to be shot in 70mm Print Format, since Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet. Hence, it is fitting that the Astor, as one of the few places in the world still able to screen the format, would be chosen to do so. The Master, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a portrait of the American post World War II drifter. In conjunction with it’s premiere screening, the Astor will host a Q&A with the film’s acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson.
