Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved tale are in for a treat as The Lord of the Rings – A Musical Tale prepares to bring its unique adaptation to Australia.

Following its debut in Sydney, this anticipated musical will also play limited seasons in Perth and Melbourne, offering audiences a chance to experience Middle-earth like never before.

  • State Theatre, Sydney – From 7 January 2025
  • Crown Theatre, Perth – From 19 March 2025
  • Comedy Theatre, Melbourne – From 26 April 2025

This musical adaptation of Tolkien’s fantasy saga boasts an impressive Australian cast. Among the leads, Laurence Boxhall will take on the role of Gollum, Andrew Broadbent will portray Elrond, and Terence Crawford will bring Gandalf to life. Other key roles include Rohan Campbell as Boromir, Rob Mallett as Strider, and Rarmian Newton as Frodo Baggins. These performers are joined by a talented ensemble of 32 actor-musicians, bringing a dynamic and immersive experience to the stage.

The production is brought to Australia by Kevin Wallace Productions, GWB Entertainment, and Middle-earth Enterprises in partnership with The Watermill Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
