The Fray return to Australia for a massive Summer of Light Tour

Words by staff writer

The Fray are heading back Down Under in February 2027, with Bastille, Dashboard Confessional and more in tow.

Grab your tissues and dancing shoes, because The Fray are bringing their Summer of Light Tour to Australia in February.

It’s The Fray’s second Australian run in as many years, arriving hot on the heels of a sold-out six-date visit in 2025. This time the group stretch across arenas, a Wollongong one-off and a string of open-air festival dates, plus a debut New Zealand appearance.

The indoor leg, presented by TEG Live, pairs the band with emo favourites Dashboard Confessional and Australian artist Rachael Fahim. The open-air shows fall under the Lookout Festival banner, where Bastille, Killing Heidi and Little Birdy round out a hefty supporting cast.

Artist pre-sale access opens 15 September from 10am local time, with a TEG Live pre-sale to follow on 16 September. General tickets go on sale from 17 September, after the band’s clean sweep of sold-out shows last time around.

The run doubles as a launch pad for A Light That Waits, the band’s first full record of new material in over a decade, due 13 March. Its title track lands ahead of the album on 23 January, opening a fresh chapter for the core three-piece of Joe King, Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki.

Since breaking through in the mid-2000s, The Fray have collected four Grammy nominations, three Billboard Music Awards and a swag of Top 10 hits. Signature single How to Save a Life is Diamond-certified, sat on the Billboard Hot 100 for 58 weeks and became forever tied to Grey’s Anatomy. Support act Dashboard Confessional, fronted by Chris Carrabba, arrive off the back of ninth album All The Truth That I Can Tell.
