Fantastic Film Festival Australia is returning to Lido Cinemas this April.

Broadcasting the latest and greatest of local filmmaking talent, alongside a curated selection of international films, Fantastic Film Festival Australia showcases movies that push the boundaries of filmmaking and storytelling.

It promises to be a memorable lineup with 27 feature films including Zillion, Holy Shit!, Evil Dead Rise, and Polite Society.

“This year’s program pushes the limits of storytelling and challenges conventional notions of reality,” festival director Hudson Sowada explains, “We’re excited to showcase such as eclectic range of films, and we encourage audiences to take risks and embrace the strange”.

Kicking off on April 14th, the festival will feature all sorts of cinematic experiences, including the world’s first scratch and sniff session, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Stink-O-Vision, as well as the infamous nude screenings of the comedy classic Zoolander.

There’ll also be a film so reportedly controversial it can’t be named in the festival program. Known only as An Untitled and Perfectly-Legal Coming-Of-Age Parody Film, audience members will be some of the only people in the world to enjoy its secret delights.

The program will include four feature-length Australian films, ranging from Giallo-style horror to mystery and thriller stories. These films include Blur, Text Messages from the Universe, The End Of History and Beaten to Death, all of which are receiving widespread acclaim.

Closing off the festival will be the modern exploitation film LION-GIRL, an outrageous tale of post-apocalyptic sci-fi with practical effects and intense nudity. Running from the 14th-30th of April, FFFA is not to be missed by fans of experimental and bizarre cinema.
