Melbourne International Games Week

Connecting games, technology and culture, Melbourne International Games Week is returning to Melbourne for nine days of gaming events.

Whether your thing is digital gaming or table top gaming, there’s something for everyone at the Melbourne International Games Week. Now in its eighth year, this is the biggest games event in the Asia Pacific, with a program that caters to industry, educators and game enthusiasts alike. It runs from October 1 – 9 this year.

After two years of being online, this nine day celebration of games for those who make them and play them is coming back to an in-person delivery. With many industry networking events throughout the nine days, the Melbourne International Games Week is the largest professional networking platform for the games industry in the Asia Pacific.

Featuring the Australian Game Developer Awards, Game Connect Asia Pacific and High Score: Composition and Sound Art for Gaming, this is a notable event in the calendar of anyone in the gaming industry. With events for educators, discover the future of gaming in education and school.

With more than 65,000 people attending in 2017, Melbourne International Games Week is run over a number of venues, including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Melbourne International Games Week also included the first Melbourne Queer Games Festival in 2018, a festival that focused on games with LGBTQIA+ themes, created by queer creators.
