Two mates, one album and a whole lot of first takes: Tex Perkins and Matt Walker are hitting Brunswick Ballroom.
Tex Perkins and Matt Walker are rolling out a run of live dates between September and November 2026 to mark the arrival of their new album, Before The Show, and Brunswick Ballroom is on the list.
The Melbourne stop lands on 12 November, with the pair playing tracks from the record alongside a handful of hand-picked favourites.
The two have been friends and musical collaborators for decades, and Before The Show was largely laid down in first takes. Because of that, the spontaneity of the recording is meant to carry onto the stage, which means each night of the tour shapes up a little differently.

Food, drink and getting in
The kitchen opens at 6:30pm and keeps serving until about 9pm, so you can order at the kitchen pass if you want a feed before or during the set. Premium ticket holders can also use the QR code at their table to get drinks, cheese boards and desserts brought over. If you want to sit with friends, buy your tickets in one group.
Bring photo ID, because the show is 18+. A current Australian driver’s licence, a state-approved proof of age card or a passport will do the job, along with a digital or printed copy of your ticket. The venue also doesn’t sell or supply plastic water bottles.
Brunswick Ballroom is accessible and has an Acorn indoor curved stairlift. Companion tickets are accepted: enter the code BBACCESS26 before choosing tickets to book accessible seating, which reserves a spot for you and your companion.
Premium accessible seating includes a reserved table and one complimentary meal each. Companion tickets need to be valid and are checked on entry.
