Stompo Street Fest will take over Islington Street on 14 November, with tinny bars, oysters, flash tattoos and a stack of local acts

A decade of striped tinnies deserves a proper party, and Stompo Street Fest is it, hitting Collingwood this November.

Stompo Street Fest is the one-day birthday bash from Stomping Ground Brewing Co., presented by Triple R, marking 10 years since Gipps St Pale Ale first hit cans and swung open the doors of their Collingwood Beer Hall.

It spills across Islington Street and into the Collingwood Beer Hall, with doors opening at 11:30am.

What’s on offer at Stompo Street Fest

Islington Street gets a full street-party makeover for the day.

Street-side tinny bars will keep the beers flowing, food trucks will handle the snacks, and an oyster station is there for anyone feeling fancy. Melbourne Gin Co is behind the cocktails, so there’s an option for anyone skipping the pint.

Beyond the drinks, the program leans into art and entertainment.

Live art will be happening on site, free flash tattoos are up for grabs, and drag performers and circus acts will take turns entertaining the crowd.

Families are covered too. A dedicated Kids Zone is set up inside the Beer Hall, and under 12s get in free. Everyone else pays just $39. With doors opening at 11:30am, there’s plenty of daylight to wander between the bars, trucks and stages.

The lineup

Locking in the music are JNETT, Steady Weather, Owelu Dreamhouse, Supa Kameleon, Cool Sounds, Quality Used Cars, Shio & Mike Gurrieri, Sweetie, Mz Rizk and Sista Sara, with more acts still to be announced.

The bill is made up of local artists and DJs.

Backing the local scene isn’t new for the brewery. It has partnered with Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe, Midsumma, St Kilda Festival and Triple R, among others.

How Stomping Ground got here

The story starts before 2016.

Co-founders Steve Jeffares and Guy Greenstone opened The Local Taphouse in St Kilda in 2008, then launched the Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) three years later. GABS grew into a national craft beer festival drawing more than 60,000 punters a year across four cities before it was sold in 2019.

Teaming up with co-founder Justin Joiner, the trio opened the Collingwood Beer Hall at 100 Gipps Street in 2016, aiming for a brewery that doubled as a place to hang out. A decade on, the numbers look like this:

  • More than 12 million litres brewed
  • More than 500 beer styles released
  • More than 400,000 guests through its venues every year
  • Over $350,000 donated to community causes through the Giving Ground range and partnerships
  • Around 150 staff across brewing, hospitality and the business

The Collingwood Beer Hall has been named Australia’s Best Brewpub five times, and recently took home the title again for 2026 from a pool of 14 finalists. They held the title from 2017-2021.

Head brewer Ashur Hall, the brewery’s very first employee, leads the beer team, and every new beer is poured through its own taps first before going wider.

The core range includes Gipps St Pale Ale, Laneway Lager, Big Sky Hazy Pale, Hop Stomper IPA, Easey St Easy Pale, Stomping Ground Draught and Footloose Alc-Free Pale Ale.

What’s next

Three beer halls currently carry the Stomping Ground name: Collingwood, Moorabbin and Melbourne Airport, home to the Southern Hemisphere’s first working brewery inside an airport.

A fourth is on the way, with a new brewery and beer hall set to open in Geelong in 2027.

It’s part of a wider plan for more beer halls across Melbourne and regional Victoria, plus a push to get the beers onto more taps and shelves around the state.

For the birthday, the crew have put together the 10 Years of Beers mixed pack, which brings back a favourite brew from each year since 2016.

It drops at the start of November through stompingground.beer and will also be on tap at the party.

Grab your mates, pick a tinny bar and get down to Collingwood on 14 November for a birthday that’s worth showing up to.
