PRESSURE POINT is the huge new boundary-pushing event stacked with big name internationals

Pressure Point
words by staff writer

Hardcore, hip-hop and experimental pop are about to share a gigantic room, thanks to this new collab from I OH YOU and Mushroom.

Somebody put a hardcore band, a Grammy winning producer and an experimental rapper on one bill, and it’s called PRESSURE POINT.

Put together by I OH YOU and MG Live, PRESSURE POINT is rolling up the east coast over the second last weekend of March 2027. JPEGMAFIA and A. G. Cook top the bill, and these are the only Australian shows either of them is playing.

For A. G. Cook it’s also a first. The long term Charli xcx collaborator and PC Music’s founder has never performed here before so Aussie audiences should be pumped at the chance to get an IRL taste of his genre bending sounds. Rounding out the lineup are Trash Talk, feeble little horse, Shady Nasty, xiao xiao and FUKHED.

The idea is to get a mix of local and international scenes representing multiple genres under the same roof, with hardcore, post-punk, hip-hop, experimental and electronica all getting a turn.

It all starts in Melbourne/Naarm, heads to Sydney/Eora and wraps up in Brisbane/Meanjin.

JPEGMAFIA, who also goes by Peggy, is one of experimental rap’s most restless names, known for inventive, genre-bending production and cutting lyrics.

He made Scaring the Hoes with Danny Brown, has worked with Gorillaz, Ye, Playboi Carti and Tinashe, and has swapped guest spots with Beyoncé. On stage he plays at full speed, which has earned him support slots with Linkin Park and Turnstile, plus sets at Splendour in the Grass, Primavera Sound and Lollapalooza.

A. G. Cook is the British producer and songwriter behind PC Music, a label that has spent years bending pop into stranger shapes. His CV includes work with Beyoncé and Caroline Polachek, plus a Grammy for his part in Charli XCX’s Brat. Now he’s taking his catalogue on the road in Australia for the first time.

Trash Talk have been playing in Sacramento since 2005, blending hardcore with thrash-style speed and bite. Odd Future Records took notice and signed them as its first non-hip-hop act, releasing 119 in 2012. Heavy riffs, pounding drums and shouted vocals are their trademarks.

Pittsburgh trio feeble little horse are landing in Australia for the first time with third album bitknot in tow. The band handled the writing, production and recording themselves, and the record jumps between quiet, tender moments and loud blasts of fuzzed-out guitar, with electronic touches throughout.

Shady Nasty are a Sydney band who mash punk and hip-hop together, with their jazz backgrounds always showing through. Debut album Trek landed in 2025, and they’ve supported Amyl and The Sniffers, High Vis and Shame. Their own gigs regularly sell out, and the crowds bring the mosh.

xiao xiao are a Western Sydney / Dharug Country project pulling from punk, rap, club music and trip-hop. They’ve only put out two releases, but they’ve built a following through internet radio stations, underground scenes and recommendations from mates.

FUKHED moved from Brisbane to Sydney and has become a name in the local club scene, playing techno with a moody, after-dark streak. She’s recorded mixes for triple j and the UK’s Project Radio, played Field Day, BTV and Mode, and has released music through Gallery and TETE VIDE.
