Tesselaar KaBloom: Melbourne’s festival of flowers returns with a circus, markets and more

Words by Staff Writer

Melbourne's favourite flower festival is blooming back into the Dandenong Ranges this autumn, bringing a kaleidoscope of activities for the whole family.

Set across five sprawling acres, the Tesselaar KaBloom Festival of Flowers transforms Silvan into a mesmerising display of sunflowers, salvias, marigolds and dahlias. The festival’s newest addition, the KaBloom Ferris Wheel, offers punters a bird’s eye view of the intricate flower field designs below.

This year’s program features a stacked lineup of entertainment including Circus Oz Now For Wow, bringing their signature blend of acrobatics and infectious energy to the grounds. The Becky Bubble Show returns with its giant rainbow-coloured spectacle, while the Fairy Garden hosts storytelling sessions throughout the day. For the ankle-biters, there’s a special Easter Rabbit Hunt with sweet rewards up for grabs.

Between flower gazing, festivalgoers can hop aboard the Tractor Train, tackle the Garden Games Maze and Obstacle Course, or get hands-on at the School Holiday Drumming Workshops. A bustling Market Faire and food truck village round out the offerings, with fresh blooms available to take home.

Paul Tesselaar, third-generation flower farmer of the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, says: “Kabloom is more than just a flower festival—it’s an explosion of colour, creativity, and fun for all ages. We love seeing families and friends marvel at the breathtaking blooms and immerse themselves in all the activities on offer. Autumn is such a unique time of year and the season offers up such an extraordinary experience in the glorious Dandenong Ranges. Every year, we grow and evolve our visitor offering, and this season is our most vibrant yet.”

Early bird tickets are available until March 21, offering adult entry for $35 with a second ticket free. Regular admission is $35 for adults and $31 for concessions, with children under 16 entering free. Off-peak tickets during Autumn Fever (March 31-April 4 and April 22-24) are $24.50 for adults and $22.50 for concessions. Additional costs apply for some activities.
