This national tour unites Lime Cordiale with symphony orchestras across Australia, including collaborations with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and West Australian Symphony Orchestra. The Melbourne leg features three nights with the full Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, transforming the band’s catalogue into expansive orchestral arrangements.
Helmed by acclaimed conductor Vanessa Scammell, whose previous collaborations include Birds of Tokyo and The Cat Empire, the performances will feature special arrangements by Alex Turley, known for his work with Genesis Owusu and Dan Sultan. Together with 52 musicians on stage, they’ll reimagine the band’s biggest hits, including Robbery, Temper Temper, and Dirt Cheap.
A full circle moment for the brothers
For Lime Cordiale’s Oliver and Louis Leimbach, these orchestral shows represent a full-circle moment. The brothers grew up in a musical household with a cello-playing mother, and both studied classical instruments before forming their indie-pop group. Oliver even studied at the Conservatorium, making this symphonic collaboration a natural evolution of their musical journey.
The orchestral performances coincide with the continued success of Lime Cordiale’s third studio album, Enough of The Sweet Talk, released in July 2024. The album made history as the first recipient of the ARIA’s Australian #1 Award for best-selling homegrown album and features singles Cold Treatment, The Big Reveal, and Imposter Syndrome.
Beyond the Melbourne performances, the Symphony Orchestras tour includes shows in Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. The Sydney Opera House will host three consecutive performances, demonstrating the significant demand for this unique musical partnership.
Tickets for the newly added Saturday performance go on sale alongside the original dates, with general public sales opening at 10am on Thursday 27 March. Various presales begin Tuesday 25 March, including MSO subscriber presale at 10am and Friends of the MSO presale at 12pm, followed by Lime Cordiale waitlist presale on Wednesday 26 March.
