Stuck In The Stars Festival returns to The Evelyn Hotel on 2 May with all proceeds going to Challenge.
Landing on 2 May, the event pays tribute to Taran “Taz” Child, a Melbourne musician who died from leukaemia in July 2024 at the age of 19. Stuck In The Stars Festival is organised by Taz’s close mates and family, with 100 per cent of proceeds from ticket sales and the night’s raffle going directly to Challenge, a not-for-profit that supports children and families living with cancer.
A guitarist, producer and relentless collaborator, Taz wrote songs, formed bands and recorded music with friends, even while going through treatment. Known among those close to him for his humour, creativity and knack for making people feel understood, his recordings live on. The festival spotlights emerging Melbourne artists across jazz, soul, rock and punk, reflecting the range of sounds Taz gravitated towards.

Last year’s debut raised more than $9,000 through ticket sales, raffles and individual donations, and the organisers are aiming higher in 2026. A raffle loaded with vouchers, merchandise and experiences from local businesses and venues that Taz frequented will run throughout the evening, with all raffle proceeds also heading to Challenge.
Challenge works with children and families affected by cancer across Victoria, providing personalised support both in and out of hospital. The organisation covers practical, social and emotional needs and receives no government funding, relying entirely on community efforts like this one. Anyone who can’t attend on the night can still contribute by donating directly to Challenge through their website.
The lineup is a wonderful showcase of some of Naarm’s highly-rated emerging bands. The festival brings together local acts Bad Posture, Open Heart Surgery, The Salmon Sisters and Keets, plus features the legendary Chris Gill on the decks.
Early bird tickets are $20.95, with general admission at $24. Doors open at 8pm and the event is 18+.
