Stamina brings Dutch techno heavyweight DNP to the vaults this weekend

Words by staff writer

Hard techno hub Stamina welcomes Dutch industrial artist DNP for a Garage Sesh takeover this Friday.

If you’ve been chasing that raw, industrial kick-drum energy that rattles through your chest cavity, Stamina has been answering the call since setting up shop beneath Flinders Street. The hard techno institution returns with another stacked lineup, this time handing the reins to Brisbane crew Garage Sesh for a full venue showcase.

Leading the charge is Dutch producer DNP, whose hardware-driven sets have earned him spots across Europe, South America, the US and Australia. His sound sits somewhere between atmospheric tension and precision drum work, built around signature kicks that land with serious weight. The hybrid approach he brings has become a calling card on the international circuit.

Brisbane’s Ali James joins the bill with a high-energy blend of hard dance, hard techno and psy influences. The rising producer has picked up support from heavy hitters including Azyr, Nico Moreno, Caravel and Paula Temple, while holding down residencies across Black Noir, Nexus and his home turf at Garage Sesh.

Rounding out the night are local selectors Double Drop, Staffy and Kaya. Double Drop brings technical precision and high-velocity selections, Staffy delivers his signature globally-influenced hard and fast approach, while Kaya draws from Berlin-inspired underground sensibilities for darker, driving sets.

Stamina has positioned itself as Melbourne’s dedicated space for industrial-strength hard techno and hard bounce since opening in the century-old Banana Alley Vaults. The venue houses three rooms across its tunnel system, fitted with festival-grade NEXO sound systems and capacity for over a thousand punters.
