Soul A Go Go

Soul-A-Go-Go brings PBS' best funk and soul DJs to the Brunswick Ballroom on the first Saturday of each month - it's kicking off its long-awaited return this Saturday night.

If you’re a funk fan and enjoy the soul stylings of PBS, head down to Soul-A-Go-Go at Brunswick Ballroom this Saturday on November 5, for what the Ballroom are humbly calling Melbourne’s premier soul and funk party.

On the first Saturday of every month, Soul-A-Go-Go will run from 8pm ’til 1am, presenting a night of fabulous tunes and dancing courtesy of vibrant sets from your favourite PBS soul DJs: Andrew Young (Jazz on Saturday), Vince Peach (Soul Time), Emma Peel (Switched On), Shio (Eternal Rhythm) and Heata!

Andrew Young – Jazz On Saturday

For more than 30 years, Jazz On Saturday has presented the best in jazz – from the early days of Jazz in New Orleans through Chicago to Kansas City, New York, the West Coast and beyond! Be Bop—Hard Bop—Post Bop—Latin rhythms and new Australian and International releases.

Shio – Eternal Rhythm

Eternal Rhythm is a jazz-focused program that explores the deeper side of jazz from both past and present and from all around the world.

From spiritual jazz to free jazz, Afrocentric jazz to Oriental jazz, odd rarities & modern sounds, Eternal Rhythm takes you on a musical journey and inspires to broaden the knowledge of the many directions that jazz can take.

Emma Peel – Switched On

Join your host, Emma Peel, for two hours of dusty, obscure, kaleidoscopic gems from the vinyl vaults of time. Spanning the 1960s until now, and digging deep around the globe, Switched On dusts off forgotten records and weaves them together to create soundscapes that range from mellow and sublime to raucous and fever-pitched.

Vince Peach – Soul Time

Soul Time has been on air since September 1984, and is the longest-running soul show in the world – produced and hosted by Vince Peach. Soul Time plays a mixture of Northern soul, Motown and related styles, from the sixties to the modern day. Original R&B, southern grooves and funk are also featured on Soul Time as well as a weekly gig guide of what’s on in Melbourne and the rest of Australia.
