As surreal as the book by Witold Gombrowicz that it takes its namesake from, this bar tucked down Tattersalls Lane is the perfect place for both a relaxed night out and a boogie. Manned by the same crew as Section 8 this cosy laneway bar boasts a great selection of wines and cocktails (including a killer espresso martini with cold pressed coffee.)
Located in an historic 1860s gem and hidden behind an unassuming side door in an iconic Melbourne laneway, Ferdydurke is a slice of Collingwood in the city. With a love for all things eclectic, as well as ‘leisure, pleasure and liquor’, this unique venue is known for their funky, grungy vibe and reasonably priced drinks.

With a panoramic view of street art from their open-air balcony and lots of greenery inside, it’s an intimate bar space that’s characterised by grand arch windows and high ceilings. Ferdydurke is a slice of Collingwood in the manufactured hustle and bustle of the CBD – a refuge from the pretence that can weigh a night of drinking in the city down.
It’s a more relaxed environment than their sister venue Section 8, but it still serves up big vibes. With an open fire and tons of hidden nooks and crannies to explore within the venue, its the perfect cosy place to chill out, have a pint and listen to some of the city’s best local DJs.
It’s a free event and booking isn’t required. Find out more by heading here.
