Yet another victim of inflation ...

Lettuce costs $6.50, the iconic Bunnings snags have been made a whole dollar more expensive … and now the famous $1 coffee from 7-Eleven is set to double in price. The store are increasing the cost from October 4, with a regular cup now setting you back a whole $2. 7-Eleven have cited “sustained cost increases across the board which have made the existing prices unsustainable.”

There’s also going to be price increases across Slurpee with a large to cost $1.50, along with Iced Coffee and Hot Chockee. However – in a broader effort to reduce single use cups, coffee drinkers who bring their own reusable cup into the store will get a 50c discount.

What you need to know

  • 7-Eleven’s $1 regular coffee is increasing to $2 from October 4 onwards

It’s the first time since the prices have been increased in 13 years, with prices having remained stable since 2009.

“What will not change is the quality of our products or our dedication to improving the sustainability of our coffee and packaging. In the next few weeks, we will be announcing some improvements that will reduce our environmental impact across the range,” 7-Eleven Australia announced in a statement on their Facebook page.

“We value you and your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you in our stores soon.”

Commenters flocked to Facebook to express their frustration and disappointment, with one commenter stating “good days are finished”.

However, there’s a silver lining to it all – with two commenters stating “don’t even know why 7-Eleven is apologising. Still a great price,” and “great to see the encouragement to bring our own cup.”

The price rise is in effect from October 4. Don’t forget to bring your reusable keepcup to 7-Eleven the next time you want a cheap coffee.
