20,000 daffodils will bloom at the Rialto this week for Cancer Council’s annual fundraiser

Daffodil Day

Raise money for cancer research and enjoy some beautiful flowers on Daffodil Day, August 25.

With this year marking 36 years of Daffodil Day and to celebrate this milestone while raising money for a good cause, The Rialto is going to be transformed with 20,000 flowers. With nearly 150,000 Australians being diagnosed with cancer every year, all funds from daffodil sales go into vital research. Head along to the Cancer Council’s pop up store in the Rialto Plaza on August 25 to purchase a bouquet of flowers from 7am-2pm, with all proceeds going to cancer research.

The Daffodil Day Appeal raised almost $1.5 million for life-saving cancer research last year despite the pandemic. With the Daffodil Day Appeal being the Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign, it raises much needed funds for cancer research.

“Cancer takes so much from all of us,” says Cancer Council Victoria’s CEO, Todd Harper AM. “It’s why this year, we’re calling on Victorians to give hope to those impacted by cancer by funding vital cancer research that is saving lives every day.”

“Every person who donates or buys daffodils this August will be helping us to continue investing in life-saving cancer research programs, giving hope for better treatments and early detection and ultimately, giving us hope for a cancer-free future.”
