Second Idol (NSW) plays a FREE gig on 28 April at The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar with support from locals SLOMO.
Second Idol is known for their emotive performances drenched in venom and melancholy, and unleashing a fusion of alternative rock, goth, grunge and post-punk influences. Informed by feminism, queerness and cross-cultural identity, the band transverses concepts of power, gender and otherness. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Kate Olivia, Second Idol has risen to be a ruthless, unapologetic voice and leader within the Sydney scene.
On 8 March 2024, Second Idol released the single Boxing Ring a song that lays out the experience of being a woman in the music industry. The title refers to the continual fight that non-cis men face in the industry, that women, non-binary and trans musicians are often placed on a pedestal, novelised, often not taken seriously, pitted against each other, and cut down.
