Another delicious single from Scarlett Angel’s solo material, ‘Secrets’ authentically showcases the artist’s unique dark/alt pop vibe. Rising from the ashes at the end of a toxic relationship, Scarlett Angel’s newest single is a defiant and unapologetic anthem about trauma attachments and independence. An emotionally vulnerable and heartfelt song, it’s a blistering reminder that Scarlett Angel “won’t take shit from no one anymore.”

Written alongside her most recent single ‘Self Sabotage’, the story of ‘Secrets’ is one of reclamation and redemption. “I actually recorded both songs with the toxic boyfriend and when we broke up he threatened to keep my money and the music,” Scarlett Angel told us.
“Looking back now Secrets is about being easily manipulated and having trauma attachments to men. Back then I was super co-dependent. Not aware of my boundaries or what I deserved, thinking love had to involve pain to be passionate and exciting.”
With a beat produced by Prodrubi and the song being engineered by Zēo, it’s a sexy yet playful song that you’ll find stays in your head long after you’ve finished listening to it. “I find a beat that speaks to me, then I try and feel into what the beat sparks within me; what story can I tell,” Scarlett Angel explains on her process of songwriting.
“Then I usually freestyle until I find a cool melody, once that’s there I start writing. It usually all flows, however if I feel stuck I give it a few days until I revisit it. Other times something happens to me that hurts and gets me angry and I know I need to write a song about it so in that case the intention comes first and then I find the beat to match the intention.”

It’s a special release for Scarlett herself – this newest track comes complete with her debut professional music video, which dropped today at 6pm. Having been filmed in June this year, the music video for Secrets is the artist’s debut professional music video. As sexy, emotional and playful as the song, it’s directed by Zacobro.
“Luckily for me I’m very comfortable in front of a camera, so I found the process very seamless and enjoyable,” Scarlett Angel says. “I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life to make projects like this so it was like a ‘finally I get to do this’ moment.”
There’s tons of new stuff on the horizon for fans of Scarlett Angel – the singer and songwriter is planning on releasing three more singles this year, as well as an EP early next year. She is also planning a rap EP that will be released later in the year. You can catch her performing in the band SCARLETT 13, who have been headlining some killer gigs since April this year.
“We started doing open mics in April and now are headlining gigs,” Scarlett Angel told us. “The main reason I wanted to be in a band was to gain musicality skills and get performance experience which I’ve definitely been able to achieve – which is awesome.”
“With every performance, the more confident I get, so when I do perform as SCARLETT ANGEL I’ll be so ready.”
