This time, they’re taking over Section 8 for not just one night, but a full four days and four nights of wild west-themed revelry.

The theme for Hella Queen 2024 is cowgirls, cowboys and cowtheys, so dust off those boots, saddle your horse, and make sure your outfit’s dripping in rhinestones. Whether you’re a seasoned cowboy, a first-time cowgirl, or a fabulous cowthey, this party is ready to embrace you and let you shine in all your wild west glory.

Day 1: Friday, November 1
Kicking things off on Friday night is an opening party set to be a yeehaw-worthy spectacle. The lineup includes:

To complement the beats, Kurious Kat will be providing immersive visuals, bringing the wild west theme to life with a kaleidoscope of imagery.
Day 2: Saturday, November 2
First up, get involved with a free werkshop hosted by Ride A Cowboy—perfect for anyone who’s ever wanted to learn the ways of the west and customise and keep their own cowboy hat (they look amazing). Following this, the Artists Market hosted by Gay Stuff Market is sure to be a treasure trove of handmade gems, from jewellery to cowboy-themed accessories and more.
Throughout the day, live performances and DJ sets will be curated by Angel, making sure there’s never a dull moment. Expect a little something for everyone on the decks.
Day 3: Sunday, November 3
On Sunday, the creative energy cranks up with live painting and installations by artist Poppy Bones. If you’re more into action than art, head outside for the boot scootin’ carwash in the laneway, where you can get your car polished up with a side of some good ol’ fashioned fun.
Later in the day, more live performances and DJ sets await, curated by 3rd Orbit, bringing the weekend’s party vibes to a whole new level.
Day 4: Monday, November 4
Monday might be the final day , but Hella Queen plans to go out with a bang before the Melbourne Cup public holiday. The highlight of the day is the ballroom categories and performances, curated by House of Diesel. Expect fierce voguing battles, breathtaking costumes, and ballroom culture in all its fabulousness.
There are prizes up for grabs from top-tier sponsors, including Absolut, Heaps Normal, Ole Smoky, Homie, Converse, and Ride A Cowboy, ensuring that even the competitors leave with something special.
