The beloved regional festival will miss another year, following the cancellation of the 2024 event due to low ticket sales.
It’s a sad day for music lovers as the adored Groovin’ the Moo has announced a 2025 festival isn’t happening. The team posted to Instagram, revealing they are taking the time to “find the most sustainable model” for the much-loved Aussie event.
The travelling festival, typically held in May in regional areas throughout the country, has been running on and off since 2005.

The 2024 edition of Groovin’ the Moo, which had revealed a lineup featuring The Beaches, Jessie Reyez, DMAs, The Kooks, Mura Masa and more, was later cancelled due to insufficient ticket sales.
The cancellation of this year’s event marks a recent trend in festivals taking a step back, including Loch Hart, which recently held its last festival, Splendour in the Grass, which announced its second consecutive year off to “recharge”, and Meadow, which will be hosting its final event in March.
For now, it’s a waiting game as fans come to terms with the news and organisers regroup to assess the future of Groovin’ the Moo. Until then, it’s back to the drawing board for those who were counting down the days until the festival.
Let’s hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Groovin’ the Moo, and that it’ll make a triumphant return to regional communities in the future.
