The much-beloved Reclink Community Cup is returning to Abbotsford’s Victoria Park this June, with a line-up of artists today announced to perform.

With the theme this year being ‘Let Love Rule’ in honour of Archie Roach AM, the Reclink Community Cup is set to return on Sunday June 19 for a day of friendly footy. A game that pits the media versus the music industry – the mighty Megahertz v. the ruthless Rockdogs – the Reclink Community Cup features hot food, cold drinks, kid’s activities and a welcoming atmosphere for all. With the entertainment announced today, expect to see Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, Private Function, Parsnip, Ausecuma Beats and Izy taking over the main stage.

The Cup’s 26th instalment features Cash Savage and the Last Drinks taking over the main stage at Victoria Park. After selling out the Forum last December, formidable rock and roll heroes with a punk-rock heart Private Function will join Cash Savage and the Last Drinks on the Community Cup stage. Having recently supported the original Wiggles on tour, the four-piece Parsnip will also be performing their charming and quirky indie-rock on the day. They’ll be joined by the groovy and joyous nine piece ensemble Ausecuma Beats, whose members hail from Guinea, Mali, Senegal, Cuba and Australia. Closing out the day is neo-soul outfit Izy with their rich vocal harmonies and subtle jazz guitar.

“’Let Love Rule’ is a song about love being the main sentiment in your life, the driving force that inspires you each day to do what you do,” says Archie Roach.  “In today’s world LOVE is expressed in many ways: through respecting one another, caring for one another and hoping that everybody is happy and well in their life. That’s what letting love rule means to me in today’s world.”

The Reclink Community Cup is an annual charity event that attracts more than 10,000 patrons annually for a gangbuster day of friendly competition. Raising much needed funds for Reclink Australia, an organisation that rebuilds the lives of Australians through art and sport, this is the first time the event has been held in three years. “It’s more than just the game – the event brings together music and community radio football players and attracts music and sports fans alike. It’s an amazing day out that supports a great cause,” says  says Co-Captain of the PBS RRR Megahertz and local icon, Mz Rizk.

“Community is also a tangible expression of love and connection,” continues Archie. “What better way to express LOVE than to come together, playing a game of footy and listening to some great Australian music?”

The Melbourne leg of the Reclink Community Cup will be held at Victoria Park, Abbotsford on Sunday June 19 from 11am. Grab your tickets by heading here.
