NGV will host a selection of global and local queer figureheads sharing personal stories and reflections as part of the gallery's 'QUEER: Stories from the NGV Collection' exhibition
NGV has today announced that QUEER: Stories from the NGV Collection will feature a ‘Queer Dreams’ storytelling event on Tuesday May 24, featuring queer icons reflecting on their dreams and personal stories.
The event will feature a video message from Jonathan van Nes, who will be touring Australia including a Melbourne show at Plenary, as well as reflections, performances and stories from Drag icon Courtney Act; writer Claire G. Coleman; writer, actor and activist Nayuka Gorrie; ABC Radio National presenter Patricia Karvelas; multidisciplinary artist and teacher Luke King; emerging writer Lee Pennefather; writer, performer and activist Nevo Zisin; and exhibiting artists William Yang and Paul Yore.

The program will include exclusive after-hours access to QUEER: Stories from the NGV Collection from 5:30pm, prior to the evening of storytelling beginning at 7.00pm.
Also coming up at NGV, a celebration of Indian Utsav Community Day with a day of art, dance, food and music as part of the NGV’s Transforming Worlds: Change and Tradition in Contemporary India exhibition, which displays an array of traditional and indigenous art from across India’s diverse regions.
Free activities on the day include Bollywood and Bhangra dance performances and workshops, drawing activities for kids and families, a performance of Indian classical music from Jay Dagbar and Saikat Bhattacharyag, guided tours of the Transforming Worlds: Change and Tradition in Contemporary India exhibition, DJs in the NGV’s Great Hall, and vegetable samosas, cauliflower pakoras, vada pav and kathi wraps, masala chai and mango lassi.
