Hard rockers QOTSA will play shows in Melbourne and Sydney to coincide with their Soundwave 2011 performances

Queens of the Stone Age have just announced two Sidewaves in Melbourne and Sydney!

Playing in Sydney on March 2, then in Melbourne on March 3, Queens of the Stone Age have been one of the 21st century’s most engaging and ambitious rock groups.

Led by Josh Homme, these hard rockers have pursued an agenda of moody, sexy, high-energy music that flaunts its danger and oddness, winning over fans and critics in the process.

Releasing their self-titled debut in 1998, QOTSA boasted a stripped-down approach to hard rock and metal that value gnarly riffs over head-banging theatrics. In keeping with the band’s desert origins, the songs had a sun-baked, slightly eerie quality to them, and as the album’s sexually suggestive cover indicated, QOTSA had a cocky, libidinous streak to them.

In 2000, Queens of the Stone Age released Rated R which proved to be part horror movie, part drug-binge freak-out but essentially a hard rock record that ran the gamut from rock to pop to metal to psychedelic.

However it was 2002 when QOTSA broke through with Songs For The Deaf, a sort of concept album about the idiocy of mainstream radio.

To coincide with their Soundwave 2011 performances, the band’s self-titled debut album will be re-released on February 25. It has been re-mastered with three bonus tracks from the original recording session.

Considered one of the greatest heavy rock bands of today, we are absolutely thrilled to announce they will be delivering their trademark commanding, in-your-face performances for two sideshows only, guaranteed to leave the masses in Melbourne and Sydney breathless.

QOTSA are playing at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday March 2 (all ages) and at the Palace Theatre in Melbourne on Thursday March 3 (18+ only).

Tickets go on sale Friday January 14 at 9am at www.ticketek.com.au.
