"You’re only a kid once, you’re an adult your whole life"

Mona Foma and the iconic rock band Queens of the Stone Age have unveiled plans for an exclusive and intimate benefit performance at Mona’s Nolan Gallery on Thursday, 15 February. This revelation comes as a generous addition to their already sold-out gig on the lawns.

The cherry on top? The entirety of the proceeds from this special performance will be generously split between the Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Services and the commendable 24 Carrot Gardens initiative. Not stopping there, additional fees for all tickets purchased for this benefit show have been graciously waived.

As a token of appreciation for their support, ticketholders will be walking away with an exclusive show poster, immortalising the unique event.

In a heartfelt statement, lead singer of Queens of the Stone Age, Josh Homme, expressed his sentiments about the significance of children’s charities and the motivation behind this charitable performance:  “I’m a father of three, that’s my favourite thing in the world. As you travel around, I see a lot of really nice places, but I see a lot of dark places too. You’re only a kid once, you’re an adult your whole life… I also want to play acoustically. I love to play Mona. It’s a chance to do something nice and this is a situation where it’s very simple to do something nice.”

The Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Services cater to the healthcare needs of infants, children, and adolescents with acute and chronic conditions across southern Tasmania. This comprehensive service encompasses a variety of state-wide offerings, including inpatient and outpatient services, as well as specialised units such as Paediatric Medicine, Paediatric Surgery, and an onsite Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team.

On the other hand, the 24 Carrot Gardens programme focuses on educating children in health, wellbeing, and the importance of lifelong learning. This initiative establishes gardens in schools and communities where children learn to grow, cook, and eat healthy produce.

Mona Foma is gracing nipaluna/Hobart from 15–25 February and Launceston from 1–2 March 2024.
