Name/Band:

Timothy Nelson & The Infidels.

Define your genre in five words or less:

Folk ‘n’ roll.

So, someone is walking past as you guys are playing, they then go get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?

“Dude…dude, I know this sounds weird but do you have a spare pair of pants I could borrow? It’s an emergency.”

How long have you been gigging and writing?

I’ve been writing since around the year 2000, gigging since ‘06. This particular band began in 2007.

What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

Hard to say, the Birds Of Tokyo and Eskimo Joe shows were awesome because their crowds were really nice to us, but then playing our own shows are usually the best ‘cause you know they came to see you.

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?

My other band, High Horse – because in both outcomes I still win.

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

Bitches & hoes. Not to mention a sick obsession with The Beatles & Wilco.

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?

To succeed in making good music? Care less about the money. To succeed in making good money? Care less about the music.

Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?

Our debut LP I Know This Now came out in June through Green/MGM. You can order it in at any good record store in Australia and NZ, or on iTunes.

Why should everyone come and see your band?

Because either they haven’t gotten around it yet, or because they have before and they reckon we’re like, pretty good and that.

When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?

I’m coming over your way a few times this year to play solo. I’ll be playing at The Vic in Brunswick on Saturday September 24 in the afternoon. Joining me will be Erik Hecht from Institut Polaire as support. It all kicks off from 5pm. Hopefully the whole band will grace your city before the year is finished.
