Q&A: The Havelocks

thehavelocks.jpg

And what do you do?

I hit things with sticks in a semi melodic fashion while the other guys pluck strings and sing harmonies.

When did you start doing that?

We started the band in 2009.

Why did you start doing that?

We started because we share a passion for late night congregation in seedy dark music venues in which we realised that we could provide a service in the form of music.

Do you think you’re good at doing that?

The Havelocks have worked hard to find a style that is unique and simple yet contains depth and provides the listener with an overwhelming sense of wellbeing.

If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?

I would probably be working towards becoming a YouTube sensation via dangerous stunts that put my personal safety at complete risk.

What makes you happiest about what you’re doing?

Performing for the fans and providing them with that elusive sense of wellbeing.

And what makes you unhappiest about what you’re doing?

The music industry is an untamable beast that can chew you up and spit you out yet leave you coming back for more.

What’s you proudest moment of doing what you do?

Our brand new EP In the Valley Low.

And your least proud?

Can’t say I’m not proud of anything Havelock related.

When are you doing your thing next?

Penny Black on October 14 and Brunswick Hotel on October 15 and as we always say in Havelock Manor, “Oh Yeah!”
