As you surely already know, political punk outfit Pussy Riot were recently sentenced to 15 days in prison as well as being slapped with a three-year ban from attending any sporting events after staging a protest during the World Cup final in Moscow, which saw them storm the field dressed in police uniforms to protest Russia’s treatment of political protestors.
After completing their sentence, Veronica “Nika” Nikulshina, Olga Kuracheva, Olga Pakhtusova, and Petya Verzilov were each released from prison today only to be arrested again for the protest — albeit under a different charge. This time, the band members face a possible ten-day prison sentence for ‘the organization and holding of public events without prior written notice’.
Whether or not the sentencing will be administered is yet to be determined, stay tuned for more details to come.
