In absolutely huge news, long broken up punk rock/emo pioneers Jawbreaker have reunited to play this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago. Having played their last show together in 1996 after the release of their final album Dear You, the band has remained inactive since then despite receiving many offers of massive amounts of money to reunite. As Riot Fest has proven their ability to reunite bands such as The Replacements and Misfits, it was inevitable that they’d make Jawbreaker an offer they couldn’t refuse. The band played in Melbourne once during the one-off Summersault festival in 1996.

Long-running Melbourne hardcore punks Vicious Circle have announced the release of their 13th full length album Born to Destroy. Due for release later this year, the album will feature artwork by artist and Hellmenn frontman Ben Brown. The band has released the single Black Wings available to stream now.

California punks Rancid have announced the release of their ninth full-length album, their first since 2014’s Honor is All We Know. Entitled Trouble Maker, the album is due for release on Hellcat and Epitaph Records on Friday June 9. The band has released a video for the lead single Ghost of a Chance.

Sydney post-punk outfit Mere Women have announced the upcoming release of their third album, Big Skies, due out Friday June 16 on Poison City Records. The band has also announced an accompanying east coast tour, playing in Melbourne at The Curtin on Friday June 30.

Long-running political dad punks Bad Religion have announced that they are working on a new full-length album. Although no specific details have been released at this point, the new album will follow up 2013’s well-received record True North. The new album will also feature new members Mike Dimkich and Jamie Miller who have replaced Greg Hetson and Brooks Wackerman on guitar and drums respectively.
