Los Angeles heavy rock five-piece Volumes has teamed up with Loudwire to premiere the third single, Left For Dead, from their forthcoming Fearless Records debut Different Animals, set for release Friday June 9.

The mighty In:Extremis will play their first Melbourne show in more than ten years on Friday May 12 at the Bendigo Hotel. Wind back to 1990. In the city of Adelaide, a place better known for its churches, serial killers, pie floaters and abundance of marijuana, a grimy filth had formed. This grimy filth would be the backdrop to the birth of grind merchants In:Extremis. Sadly, ’96 is where it ended. After a long tour, and upon return to Melbourne, the members all went their separate ways. Fast forward to the end of 2016. Simon and James had always wanted to reunite but the timing had never been right for everyone. Although the other original members couldn’t commit to this venture, they gave their blessings to a recruitment drive. Now armed with both Josh Schulz and Joel Parkinson on guitar, and Jarred Taylor on drums, 2017 marks the rebirth of chaos unto the world.

Ill Nino are heading back to Australia to play their landmark album Revolution Revolucion in full. Joining them are Terror Universal, the horror-metal act featuring current and former members of Ill Nino, Machine Head and Soulfly. See them at Max Watts on Saturday August 5.

One of the nation’s finest metal bands, Melbourne’s Desecrator recently released their debut studio album To The Gallows via Melbourne based rock label Dinner For Wolves. The thrashtastic music video for new track Thrash Is A Verb has been unleashed. The To The Gallows tour in support of the album is well underway and saw the band headline at the Blacken Open Air Festival in Alice Springs.

US metalcore giants Miss May I recently signed to Sharptone Records (Nuclear Blast) and their new album Shadows Inside hits stores on Friday June 2. The label says the album “Doubles as a monster riff-fest and forcefully vocal driven statement shaped by changes both within and without. Make no mistake this isn’t an about-face album full of contrived sentiment or glossy emptiness. It’s a record where the band challenged each other to work from outside of their comfort zone, to really hone in on what makes Miss May I vital, and deliver something fully authentic and raw.”

Ryan Van Poederooyen, better known to everyone as RVP, is one of the most accomplished drummers in heavy music and best known for his work with Devin Townsend. Ryan will be in Australia on tour with The Devin Townsend Project this month, and he will be hosting free motivational seminars on the day of each show. RVP’s enthusiasm to help others succeed in all areas of life is infectious, and anyone who has witnessed him speak in a public arena can testify to that. The Melbourne event is on Wednesday May 24, with two shows at 170 Russell on Tuesday May 23 and Wednesday May 24.
