Built in the centre of Prahran, the new plaza and park will stand at 9000 square metres, inspired by the piazzas of Europe.
Dubbed Cato Square, the new development will feature nine open-air zones including a central square with a garden, water feature, and even a small ‘forest’ – arriving at a size that’s almost large enough to match Federation Square.
As high-rise development continues to congest the area, Cato Square is intended to bring a much-needed touch of greenery and space back to Prahran. Upon completion, Cato Square will also bring 20 percent more space for car parking to nearby shopping strips.
Planned use for the space includes festivals, markets, open-air gigs and an outdoor cinema.
