Paul McCartney lands first #1 album in over 36 years

paulmc.jpg

Beatles legend Paul McCartney is celebrating his first #1 album in over 36 years, with his new record Egypt Station skyrocketing to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Interestingly enough, of the 153,000 copies sold in the U.S on the week of release, the majority of these were powered by traditional album sales: with over 147,000 copies sold.

From that, I gather that a bunch of dad rockers got out to their local Sanity on the weekend and picked up a copy for both them and the kids.

Macca was on a ubiquitous publicity trail in the lead up to the release, however, and it seems like that’s well and truly paid off. You can revisit the genuinely heartwarming Carpool Karaoke he did with James Corden below.
