The production, cut down to 90 minutes and fused with great jazz standards of the ’30s, ’40s and beyond, aims to bring a new, younger audience to opera.
The much loved classic will be taken out of the theatre and presented in a real-life contemporary setting, going down at the infamous Men’s Gallery. The cabaret style production tells the story of a famous prostitute Violetta surviving in a harsh world and how virtue is often found where we least expect it.
Featuring singers from Opera Australia as well as professional jazz and blues performers, the show features references some of history’s sexiest female icons.
