Who Are You? Evan Whetter, singer, hammond organ and harmonica.

The First Record I Bought:

Howlin’ Wolf – The London Sessions LP. I was 14 and I’d started getting into blues. Back then you had to buy the record to find out if you liked it or not. I found the tapestry of sound so addictive.

The Last Record I Bought:

I buy as much vinyl as I can. Mostly blues, soul, jazz and funk. My last purchase was the Pete Cornelius double LP Groundswell.

The First Thing I Recorded:

I made a CD back in the mid ‘90s with a couple of good friends. We had a band. It’s definitely cringe worthy but we had a blast doing it!

The Last Thing I Recorded:

Our brand new album Pocket The Black is definitely the one we are most proud of. We recorded it live in front of a studio audience and it’s the closest we’ve come to capturing what we do live on a record. It’s won album of the year in South Australia.

The Record That Changed My Life:

I’d have to say Blues Is King by B.B. King. It was recorded in 1967 when B.B. was at the peak of his powers with just a six-piece band in a club in Chicago. I’d put it up there with any live album.
