For many Sri Lankans, art is considered soul food for the ‘upper class’ and viewed traditionally in boutique contemporary venues where the term ‘Off the Kerb’ doesn’t apply. But these exhibitions are different – affluent and available to all. The ‘Off the Street’ exhibiton celebrates young talented underprivileged Sri Lankan artists who are without the means of exhibiting their work through private shows, yet are still able to find an audience.
