As an Academy Awards qualifying event, the winners of this year’s Best Short Film and Best Documentary are eligible for consideration in the Oscars Short Film and Oscars Documentary Shorts Award categories.
The festival’s most prestigious title, Best Short Film, will see one of four nominees take home a $10,000 cash prize. Up for the award this year are Red Rover, Death in Bloom, Slingshot and The Orchestra.
Up for Best Documentary this year are You Better Take Cover, Worry Me In The Daytime, Strudel Sisters and Eva.
Elsewhere, the nominees for Best Director include Brooke Goldfinch (Red Rover), Nathan Keene (Little Boy Blue), Daniel Oates (Death In Bloom) and Jacobie Gray (The Aquarium).
Other categories include Best Animation, Best Achievement in Editing, Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Best Comedy, Best Actor, Best Original Score, Best Indigenous Film and more.
