Nick Jonas is trading in pop hooks for power chords in his latest role, and he’ll be doing it in full Starchild regalia.
As first reported in a Deadline exclusive, the Jonas Brother and Jumanji star has been cast as Paul Stanley in the upcoming KISS biopic Shout It Out Loud.
Directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels, The Babysitter), the authorized film will chronicle the rise of the legendary hard rock band in the 1970s. Jonas is reportedly set to do his own singing in the film, stepping into Stanley’s platform boots and tackling the frontman’s famously sky-high vocal range.

The film is being made with the full blessing of KISS co-founders Stanley and Gene Simmons, both of whom are co-producing the biopic alongside Universal Music Group and production houses STX and Sweden-based Pophouse; the latter recently acquired global rights to the KISS brand and is currently developing KISS-themed holograms and immersive fan experiences.
While Jonas is confirmed as Stanley, the role of Simmons, aka The Demon, has yet to be cast. A new draft of the screenplay, penned by Darren Lemke (Goosebumps, Turbo), is reportedly complete, based on an idea developed by Stanley, Simmons, and UMG.
Shout It Out Loud was originally announced in 2021 and was once set for a Netflix release in 2024, though current plans point to production starting in late 2025 or early 2026 with STX fully financing.
Jonas, who first gained fame as a Disney star before branching into Broadway and film, has stacked up a diverse acting résumé in recent years, with roles in Midway, Chaos Walking, Love Again, and the hit Jumanji reboots. He’s also set to appear in the upcoming Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon comedy You’re Cordially Invited.
Neither Jonas nor Stanley have commented publicly on the casting.
