Nick Huggins’ new single sounds like dawn breaking, a kind of electro folk riff on Grieg’s Morning Mood with fluttering samples instead of flutes. The music is delicate and warm, unfolding slowly, but his spoken word vocal performance is distracting. Maybe it’s just not to my taste, but it’s hard to imagine anyone who would be moved by the line, “I’m a cockatoo plague of longing.”
