Falls Festival 

Falls Festival 2022/23 guide: Full lineup, dates, locations, ticket prices and more

Usually held in the regional music mecca of Lorne, this year’s incarnation of the Falls festival will be making its way into Melbourne city this year. Besides camping, expect all your favourite things about Falls, but just a little bit toned down. International artists include Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X, and Jamie XX, and the strong local line-up features Beddy Rays, King Stingray and Telenova, among many more.

Melbourne to host biggest-ever NYE fireworks display across 30 rooftops

Melburnians will be celebrating the end of 2022 in spectacular style, with the biggest ever New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city. Fireworks are just the beginning of what will be an unmissable New Year’s Eve celebration in Melbourne, with an estimated half a million people expected at entertainment sites across the city. The City of Melbourne will ring in 2023 with the largest midnight moment it’s ever delivered, with fireworks and laser displays from 30 CBD rooftops – eight more than previous years.

If you’ve never been able to find a NYE festival that has music to your liking, the Bluesstone Blues Festival may be your cup of tea. There’ll be music from a collection of the most renowned local blues performers, like Sammy Owen and Geoff Achison to name a few

Keep It Together Festival

If you haven’t got plans for NYE yet, look no further than the Keep It Together Festival, making it’s way to the Port Melbourne Yacht Club this December. There’ll be a lot of music on offer – Needs No Sleep, Deniz Varel, Rewind, Brendan Cooper, and many more.

This year, the independent New Year’s Eve camping event ups the ante with a bigger lineup, a stronger arts and creative program, as well as talks and pop-up stands from independent Australian creatives. The lineup features a solid display of some of the most exciting local and international, trance, progressive and electronic DJs in today’s music scene. This includes the likes of D.Tiffany, Roza Terenzi, Sally C, Byron Yeates, DJ JNETT, Guy Contact and Kia*. Revellers will be able to discover new artists and get their fix of ambient to bass-heavy sets from three stages.

Sun Cycle is once again bringing electronic big-hitters to the Coburg Velodrome this New Year’s Day promising a cutting edge visual and audio spectacular.

Nowadays NYE – Riva St Kilda

Yet another music festival is happening in Melbourne this December, the Nowadays Festival hitting Riva St Kilda on the 31st. There’ll be music from a number of international performers, such as Travis Grech, Erica Dal, Simon Milan, and many more.

NYE 2022 – 2023 | Paraíso

There’s no shortage of music festivals coming to Melbourne this New Years Eve, no matter what type of music you’re into, there’s bound to be a festival this December celebrating it. It’s going down at the Trak Lounge Bar in Toorak, and will feature music from artists such as DJ JVP, Dj Horizon, DJ Jesus Guzman, Henrique Santos, and many more.

 An old school-inspired festival is coming to Collingwood this month, all set to welcome in the new year. There’ll be DJs slinging music from earlier times, tasty drinks, and food, all included in the ticket price!

New Years Eve Gala Concert

If you’re looking for a bit more of a classy way to bring in the new year, look no further than the NYE gala concert, hitting the Arts Centre on December 31. The show will feature singing talent from Marina Prior and Mark Vincent, with John Foreman and his Australian Pips Orchestra accompanying. They’ll be performing Broadway hits and well known classics. After the show’s over, you can add on a ticket to enjoy tasty drinks and fireworks.

If a big shindig isn’t your cup of tea, Melbourne’s home to many awesome venues putting on chill events this December 31. St Kilda’s popular Espy will be home to a fun event this NYE, offering three food and drink packages so you can eat yourself into a food coma while you wait for the new year to roll around.

Steppers: New Years Eve Show

There’s no more Melbourne way to see in 2023 than with a bit of live music. Steppers are one of Northside’s most popular groups, and they’ll be hitting the stage at Bar Open this December 31 for a couple of sets. For an easy $17, it’s a cheap yet fun way to party on. 

NYE Celebration with Melbourne Ska Orchestra 

 

If you’re not a fan of techno / electronic music, you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger party genre of music than ska. The syncopated rhythms are bound to get you up and boogieing into the wee hours of December 31. This event is going down at the Memo Music Hall and will feature the music from the Melbourne Ska Orchestra. 

Arbory Bar and Eatery New Years Eve

Arbory Bar and Eatery is quickly becoming one of Melbourne’s best food spots, providing punters with original menu items and tasty drinks. This NYE, you can experience the best of what the Arbory has to offer. You can grab a ticket which includes all types of drinks, canapés, and music from DJs.

Better in Colour Presents

Yet another event making its way to St Kilda this December, the Better in Colour hits the popular St Kilda Sea Baths, offering a relaxing New Year’s Eve in Melbourne for southside residents. It gives you a vantage point to experience awesome fireworks and a stunning view as the sun sets. There’ll be a bunch of music on offer too, making sure it’s a night you won’t soon forget. 

NYE Southbank 

This year, you can countdown while enjoying delicious drinks and killer tunes. It’s all going down at the Soho Bar on Riverside Quay in the heart of Southbank.

You can dive into the best of Melbourne cocktail food and drinks, and it’s topped off with a Dj slinging your favourite tunes all night. It’s a little bit on the more expensive end of things, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If you’re after something on the cheaper end of things, Melbourne’s Transport Bar is the answer for you. Happening from 8pm all the way until 3am, the Transport Bar is ready for you to party. There’s a bit of live music and DJs, so all your music needs can be solved too. Tickets start from around $10 or so. 

You Can’t Stop The Music Disco Party

If you’ve got a friend that’ll never shut up about being born into the wrong generation, this is the New Year’s Eve in Melbourne event you need to bring them to. Taking place at the Open Studio, there’ll be music from earlier eras – the 70s, 80s, and 90’s. With the ticket price including a drink, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t head to this event. 

New Year’s Eve Latin Party 

Melbourne’s an amazing melting pot for a variety of different cultures and backgrounds, and events across the city reflect this. Hitting the Miranda Tequila bar is the New Year’s Latin party, and as the name suggests, it celebrates the best in Latin culture. There’ll be cultural inspired drinks and music. 

Soul a Go-Go NYE 

Get in the New Year’s groove with Surprise Chef at Soul-A-Go-Go

As seems to be the case with this list, it seems like whatever type of thing you’re into, there’s a NYE event celebrating it. Continuing this is a soul event this December 31, featuring a selection of the best artists in the genre. There’ll be music from Surprise Chef, Sugar P, and Vince Peach, among many more.

The Collingwood Children’s Farm will be home to a stellar festival this December 31. There’ll be music from a number of the best names in the local scene: Black Jesus Experience, Close Counters, DJ Luv You, Emma Volard, Feign Jima, Kalyani, Love Sensation All Stars, Mildlife, Mothafunk, MzRizk, O Honey, Sadar Bahar, Sophie McAlister and Zepherin Saint.

If a metal night will help you get rid of the 2022 madness, look no further than this event gracing the Bendigo Hotel stage for New Year’s Eve in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. One of New Zealand’s best speed metal bands Stalker! will be hitting the stage, a few circle pits later, it’s sure to be a fun way to ring in the new year. 

BABBA: Back to the 70s

 

You’d struggle to find a bigger party band than ABBA. Of course, there’s no chance you’ll catch them live again, so experience the next best thing with popular cover band BABBA this NYE. You’ll hear all your favourites, tracks like Ring Ring, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Waterloo and Money, Money Money. Hitting the Yarraville Club, you won’t find an event with more singsong moments than this. 

Donny Benet

Everyone’s favourite adult contemporary artist is doing a show at The Corner Hotel this New Year’s Eve. His unique blend of soul and funk will be the perfect partner for some end of year festivities. On top of music from Benet, there’ll be tunes from Carlson and Delivery, making for a funky night unlike any other.

New Year’s Eve: Dancing in the Deep 

This list just keeps getting better and better, you can spend NYE in the Aquarium this year – ha. Of course as the name suggests, there’ll be opportunities to bust a love or two among the sharks. There’ll also be a chef onsite, cooking up mouthwatering menu items like sliders, hot chips, and donuts.

The popular CODE venue on Bourke St is transforming into a little bit of a massive celebration for New Year’s Eve in Melbourne’s CBD. Party until the wee hours of Jan 1 with DJs slinging killer tunes all night. There’ll be a  few rooms playing different styles of music, you can catch a bit of everything – from RnB to Techno. 

NYE @ Melbourne Public

The Melbourne Public venue features an awesome selection of the best food and drink around the state. They’ll be chucking on an event this December 31, complete with live music, food and drinks, plus plenty others.

Section 8 has quickly become one of the most popular venues for New Year’s Eve in Melbourne. This New Year’s Eve, you can head there for the Natty Day Party, an experience unlike many others out there. For their 2022 party, you’ll be able to catch music from the best artists in the electronic space, the Natty Day Party will showcase Charles-Eddy, Ed Kent, Johan Elgstorm, King Delicious.

Yet another type of music event is taking place in Melbourne this December, NYE at the Gem celebrating the best in country music, one of Australia’s most popular genres. Music from JB Bones, Elwood Blues and Darth Brooks will accompany your countdown into 2023.

DJ Brontesaurus Sex

Last but certainly not least, a gig from the DJ known as Brontesaurus Sex will be taking place this December 31. She’ll be slinging a bunch of killer tracks to get you in the mood for a non stop party, so get set for a boogie or two with mates at the B East for this gig.
