A new underground techno venue will launch in Melbourne’s CBD this weekend with a warehouse party.

Asahara Club is positioning itself as a response to the closure of independent venues, with organisers stating their mission is to “keep the underground alive.”

The debut event will feature a secret lineup in a large warehouse with a capacity of over 500 people. The venue will be equipped with a quadraphonic Funktion-One sound system, providing audio from all four corners of the space.

On Instagram, Asahara emphasised the importance of independent venues: “As clubs are shutting down at record rates around the world and the corporate monopoly on our music scene continues to eat whatever remaining independent spaces we have left, it’s imperative that we do what we can to keep the underground alive.”

The exact location of the warehouse will be disclosed to ticket holders closer to the event date, maintaining the tradition of mystery that often surrounds underground dance events. Asahara Club appears to be positioning itself as a new recurring warehouse project rather than a one-off event. Their focus on high-quality sound reinforces their commitment to creating an immersive techno experience.

The event represents a new addition to Melbourne’s vibrant electronic music scene, which has struggled in recent years with venue closures and increased corporatisation. For those unable to attend this inaugural event, following Asahara on social media may provide information about future warehouse parties and the development of this new club project.
