The event will feature an unconventional format, with organisers describing it as “a six-hour set, low lighting, lounge room mode” that invites guests to socialise while maintaining respectful volume levels for music appreciation.
CZ Wang, a DJ, producer and engineer based in New York with deep roots in Vancouver’s Mood Hut collective, will share deck duties with Texas-based Gi Gi, who blends traditional sampling with experimental sound collage techniques.
Completing the trio is local artist Sina, who has gained recognition for her leftfield drum and bass, trip-hop and bass music selections in Naarm/Melbourne. She’s also known as a member of trip-hop band Dregs.
The event will operate with a temporary liquor licence, offering Keeper Pilsner and natural wine alongside non-alcoholic beverages and tea.
Tender, which opened recently at 535 Sydney Road, describes itself as a “third place” – positioned as a space distinct from home and work, where people can experience “a transformative sense of self, identity, and relation to others.”
Beyond Friday’s electronic music showcase, the venue hosts morning and evening yoga classes spanning Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin styles, with focus on breathwork, mindfulness and somatic movement. Thursday evenings feature a Listening Room where attendees can experience the venue’s record and tape archive on a high-quality sound system.
The space also hosts various workshops, exhibitions, music events, film screenings and other community and arts-focused gatherings. Free entry is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with interested attendees encouraged to contact the organisers directly.
