The Music Victoria Awards shortlists have dropped and reads like a who's who of the best local acts to support during the current trying times.
The Music Victoria Awards are back for 2021 to celebrate the Victorian music communities huge achievements this year, despite facing one of their toughest times in history.
As an event that sees the Victorian music industry celebrate the state’s outstanding achievements and best new releases, performers, venues and festivals, The Awards is one of the most anticipated music industry events on the Melbourne Music Week calendar.
Now in its 17th iteration, Music Victoria has seen hundreds of nominations flow in from music lovers and the music industry across Victoria during the Music Victoria Awards nomination period in July and have managed to condense it all into a shortlist so that we, as a community, can celebrate and recognise the hard work of Victoria’s music community during one of the industry’s toughest times in history.

Keep up with the latest music interviews, news and reviews here.
This year’s shortlist includes some of our state’s most talented artists, venues and leaders, as well as many never-before-nominated artists, highlighting the immense breadth of talent the Victorian music community continues to offer.
As part of Music Victoria’s commitment to continual improvement, they have refined the 2021 awards criteria, categories and judging processes to more accurately reflect and reward the diverse music community in Victoria. This year also saw the introduction of the inaugural Arts Access Victoria Amplify Award. The long-overdue Award was established to shine a light on and recognise the contributions made by Deaf and Disabled musicians in the past 12 months.
Another change to the Music Victoria Awards 2021 is the inclusion of live streaming activity in the Venues, Festivals and Best Live Act categories in the eligible time period, something that music lovers are eternally grateful for in our times of isolation.
The nominees for the Industry Awards will be announced in late September and all other category nominees will be announced on 7 October.
All winners of the Music Victoria Awards and Music Victoria Industry Awards receive a trophy, and some categories also come with a prize for the winner.
Congratulations to all the entrants shortlisted below!
